St Helen's Park Kindergarten

Welcome to St Helen's Park Kindergarten

st helen's park kindy

St Helens Park Kindergarten is a community of rich cultural diversity and languages. Our program and curriculum is guided by our high quality play based environment where children explore and make sense of their world through actively engaging in learning experiences and their environment. We connect with families, community and allied health professionals and agencies to work together to ensure that the children’s learning is relevant and purposeful for them. Our Governing Council is an open forum for all parents to provide input to planning and the curriculum. Parents are invited and supported to be involved in activities at the kindergarten.

St Helens Park Kindergarten is located in a Prospect Council building and provides learning spaces which enable and facilitate rich learning opportunities for the children. The spacious outdoor learning environment includes a sandpit, raised garden beds, lawn and extensive soft fall area for swings and climbing equipment. It is shaded by mature trees and is surrounded by secure fencing. The light and airy indoor learning area is fully air conditioned.

Our philosophy underpins the site where we believe that children are competent, capable, independent and successful learners. We respect the enriched cultural background of our community and support cultural celebrations that respect all families, different languages and cultures. We believe in a rich play based curriculum to support children to develop a strong sense of identity and wellbeing; to connect and contribute to their world; become confident and involved learners; and become effective communicators.

We invite you to explore our website and encourage you to contact the kindergarten if you require further information or would like a tour.

We believe:

Our curriculum provides a strong inclusive play-based learning focus where children are encouraged to investigate, hypothesise, question and respond to curriculum choices. Our language rich program caters for all levels of understanding and encourages self resilience, social skills, literacy and numeracy. We have a site focus on children’s wellbeing and supporting them is social confidence, healthy lifestyles and problem solving.

The kindergarten supports strong family connections and home cultures, working closely with caregivers to build relationships in a caring environment. We welcome a diverse community celebrating rich cultures where children are encouraged to respect and learn about themselves and others.

Planning and Reporting

St Helen's Park Kindergarten was established in 1958. Situated adjacent to the actual "St Helen's Park", it caters for families predominantly from Prospect, but also neighbouring suburbs.

We acknowledge children coming into our kindergarten will bring with them a variety of knowledge, abilities and experiences unique to their particular family, and believe it is our role to develop a preschool curriculum based on the needs and interests of the individual children in our care.

We believe:

The Context Statement provides detailed information about our preschool.
